Flower and Garden Food at EPCOT Review - April 2, 2019 (multiple post part 2)

Posted by F S on

This is part two of the Flower and Garden Food Review for 2019.

There are a few of the huts that we didn't eat at because either we didn't see anything new or the line was just too long.

The Citrus Blossom hut was one that the line was too long. You see they were selling this cute little Orange Bird Drink cup and the line was about 100 people deep and this was when the other lines only had 4 or 5 people in them. So if you want any of the food from this location be prepared to stand in line, for a long long time.

We didn't stop at the Refreshment Port either, it's not one of the huts, it's actually a permanent structure in Epcot but has a special menu for Flower and Garden. I'm not a huge fan of Poutine so we walked past this one.

The next on our list was Northern Bloom

We chose the Seared Scallops, served with French Green Beans, Butter Potatoes, Brown Butter Vinaigrette and Applewood Smoked Bacon. The first thing my husband said was that the green beans tasted like german potato salad, but the potatoes were just buttered. So it was a reversal of flavors. The scallops were buttery and cooked to perfection. All in all it was a great dish.

In a previous year we have had the Maple Popcorn Shake, it was divine.

So far we've only made it from the main entrance of the lake to Canada. So we have to make a stop here. This isn't a Flower and Garden hut but one that is there all the time. In front of Le Cellier there is a little popcorn wagon and every time we go by it we have to stop for the popcorn. Why? Because it's maple glazed popcorn. The only place that it's served in all of the parks. If you have a popcorn bucket with you they will refill it with the maple popcorn for $2.00. If you don't have one I suggest you make the investment and buy a bucket of it. You won't be sorry.

Here's the latest popcorn bucket available at Epcot with the Maple popcorn.

The next stop was France, for their Fleur De Lys hut.

We chose the Tarte au Chèvre, which is sort of like french onion soup on a piece of puff pastry. It was very good and had a little bit of cheese dotted on top.

The recipe for this item can be found in two of the previous cookbooks for Food and Wine Festivals. On page 79 in the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival 2015 and page 4 of Celebrating 15 years of Food and Wine.

In previous years we have had the Macaron au Chocolat en Sucette which is a Large Chocolate Macaron lollipop. It's about twice the size of a normal Macaron and a wonderful sweet treat.

We ran into another old friend at the France Pavilion he said to say Hi!

We didn't stop at the Florida Fresh hut as we've eaten there so many times before and were trying out new items this day.

We have had the Spicy Blackened Shrimp with Cheddar Grits, and the Key Lime Tart with Toasted Meringue in years past and would absolutely eat those again.

We didn't stop at Taste of Marrakesh this time.

But have tried the Walnut Honey Baklava before and it was very good.

We also did not stop at the Hanami hut at Japan.

But have done the Frushi in the past.

Between Japan and the American Pavilion there is a display of Bonsai trees, some of them as much as 40-50 years old.

On that note I'll continue the final post for the Flower and Garden Festival in the next blog post.

To be continued.
